Lena Alicja Magdalena Tomasik was born in Gdynia, Poland, on June 19, 2001. In 2003, she moved to the United Kingdom with her family and lived in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Completing her undergraduate degree in Fine Art in Aberystwyth, Wales.
Working within the oil painting medium, she takes pre-existing compositions from paintings, photographs, books as well as still film images and transforms them into her own narratives. The resulting figures becoming something otherworldly, as they become morphed through each layer of paint which is pushed onto the canvas in varying traditional and contemporary techniques.
Her paintings are attempting to confront the audience with their own mortality through the depiction of the grotesque and uncanny parts of ourselves which we may attempt to conceal, but, ultimately through embrace and acceptance make us human.
